UTA
FSAE entry #87 featured several new design changes, including
a fiberglass-foam composite tub that provided more torsional
strength and driver protection. Car #87 also featured a Kawasaki
600cc in-line 4 engine and the newly-developed UTA EFI system,
and a Gleason-Torsen "torque sensing" differential.
Car #87 took 14th place in 1987, and returned to the 1988
competition to place 3rd.
