F87 is still at UTA and has served as the first training car for teams since about 1988. It is very interesting to see a new driver get in F87 and come back saying “That is the fastest thing I have ever driven”. I then respond by saying “No, that is a slug. Wait until you get into a turbo or aero car…”. To a person, when I suggest that we retire or sell F87, they all get a sad look in their face and say “That was my first car and I have fond memories of it. Please keep it as the primary trainer”. |

F88 featured a triangulated space frame with large side pods, a fabric body, a Kawasaki 600cc engine, and a modified UTA EFI system. This car had a double a-arm suspension and was the first car to have anti-sway bars front and rear. In competition F88 dropped from 1st to 6th with a broken shaft in 1988. |
