F00 in 2000
F00 went away from the 250cc engine by returning to the heavier but simpler 600cc naturally aspirated engine. The frame design on this vehicle makes the engine a stressed member of the frame. This design follows from real Formula One vehicle designs and allows the car to be separated into two pieces easily. A screw thread that was tapped into the cast aluminum rear upright; this bolt became loose during the endurance event which knocked F00 out of the endurance and fuel economy event. F00 was in contention for a win, but dropped to 15th place in Detroit. |
