FSAE @ UTASponsors

Invest in Future Professional Engineers.

Through Formula SAE, UTA student engineers get hands-on experience in a real-world scenario that requires team work, attention to detail, serious commitment, creative thinking, and customer focus. Practical skills from accounting to metal working are developed by preparing an entry into the FSAE competition. Many alumni can attest to the valuable skills developed through the FSAE competition. In addition, sponsorship provides company exposure to the most talented recruits from The University of Texas at Arlington. The University provides funds for travel and maintenance and operations, but we raise all the funds to build the car from external sponsors.  Support comes in the form of cash, donations or discounts on parts, in-kind donations of services, support materials and equipment, or just encouragement.

In a typical year, our sponsors donate around $30k in cash, $15k in parts, and $50k in machining and in-kind support.  In addition to the external machining, our students put in about 5000 to 6000 man-hours to design and build the car.  They manufacture about 85% of the car parts in our own shop.  If I had to pay them an engineering salary with overhead, the value of their design and fabrication efforts would be around $400k.  Therefore, this is a combined effort of about one half of a million dollars.  Thanks to our sponsors, our students get to experience a significant development process.  They learn things that we could never teach in a classroom.

Get Company Exposure Among Racing Circles.

UTA Racing recognizes sponsors at the national FSAE competition as well as the several SCCA autocross events in which we compete. At the national competition SAE provides industry and media coverage. Recently, the FSAE competition has been covered by CNN, ESPN, The Detroit Free Press, Car and Driver, and Racecar. Sponsors are also recognized at presentations, the Arlington Parade, the Texas State Fair, and university events.

The value of support to external sponsors range from the satisfaction of being benevolent, product recognition and publicity, exposure for their company, or an entrée to being able to hire our students.  For whatever the reason, we are totally indebted to them because without this support, the whole process would not be possible.

Your Donations are Tax-deductible.

UTA Racing is a non-profit organization thus, all donations are acknowledged as contributions to The University of Texas at Arlington and will be credited to the sponsor's cumulative giving total. All free materials and equipment provided to the UTA Formula SAE team by sponsors will be considered as a monetary contribution equivalent to the donation's market value.

Opportunities to Evaluate Product Performance.

UTA Racing can evaluate a new or existing product for your company. The modifications, and performance results of a product are reported to sponsors who have a demonstrated interest. Through a non-disclosure agreement, UTA Racing will work on your project.
