In 1985, UTA FSAE designed a sequential "butterfly" shifter that combines clutching and shifting in one motion leaving the feet free for one pedal each. With a Honda V4 500cc engine, car #85 placed third in 1985 but returned to compete in 1986 and won UTA's fourth National Championship.
